How TAQ Elections works
TAQ Elections is a service of The American Quorum. It is not a government website. We collect available results directly from state election agencies, identify the source, and link readers to the responsible election office.
Coverage, in plain language
This release connects direct data for California, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, and South Dakota. All 50 states have a navigation entry and an official election-office link. A state appearing in the explorer does not mean its vote totals or complete candidate roster have been imported. Local races are not comprehensively covered.
Leading is not winning
Election-night results are unofficial. A lead can change as additional ballots are counted. TAQ does not project winners. Precincts reporting is not the percentage of ballots counted. We do not turn 100% precinct reporting into a race call.
Current versus count so far
Current shows the party affiliations of officeholders at the baseline date, including independents and vacancies. Count so far combines seats not on the November ballot with current unofficial leaders from connected feeds. Every other contested seat stays unresolved. It is a provisional view of the available count, not a prediction, a race call, or a certified outcome.
The Senate starts with 32 Democrats, 31 Republicans, and two independents whose seats are not on this ballot, with 35 seats contested. Governors start with six Democrats and eight Republicans whose offices are not on this ballot, with 36 offices contested. All 435 House seats are contested. Tied races and sources that are unavailable, delayed, still testing, or not connected remain unresolved. Other-party leaders appear with independents. Independents remain separate even when they caucus with a major party.
No nationwide control declaration is made from partial returns. Certification is a separate official process; this release does not automatically import certified outcomes.
Timing and rehearsal data
We suppress vote totals before the relevant state’s scheduled statewide poll close. We also suppress feeds marked as test results and totals timestamped before polls close. Official websites may contain test counts before Election Day. Retrieval time and source publication time are different; both are displayed when available.
Refreshes and interruptions
While this page is visible, it checks connected sources about every two minutes. Shared caching limits repeated requests to election agencies. Officials may publish less often. If a feed fails, results from that feed are withheld and its official link remains available. A successful refresh does not necessarily mean new votes were published.
No account required
Browse and share filtered links without signing in. This application does not ask for a voter ID, precise location, or a user profile. It does not provide personalized ballot eligibility or polling-place instructions.
Corrections
Always compare disputed numbers with the linked election authority. Source corrections may increase or decrease published totals; a decrease alone does not indicate misconduct.
